Kenya Labour Market Information System
Kenya Labour Market Information System is a web-based portal whose purpose is to improve access to and the quality of Labor Market Information (LMI) available to the general public to help different labor market participants make informed decisions.
These labour market participants include students (prospective workers) who make career choices, and workers interested in available job opportunities, as well as employers, investors, and policy stakeholders.
KLMIS is a national system under the direct purview of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, State Department for Labour and Skills Development (Directorate of National Human Resource Planning and Development) for the analysis of labour market trends and emerging human capital issues.
The Labour Market Observatory Unit (Labour Market Information and Analysis Unit) within the Directorate of NHRP&D was established to centralise activities necessary to manage and develop KLMIS.
Development of KLMIS started in 2014 with technical assistance from the ILO. From 2016, KLMIS development — both infrastructure and content — has received tremendous support through the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP) under the improving of labour market support component.
